I.T Infrastructure Engineer

We are recruiting for someone passionate about solving technical problems to be an IT Infrastructure Engineer

You will be based in brand new offices in Farnborough, Hampshire in an I.T company specialising in rapid, agile experimentation using best of breed and open source IT tools and components

You will have a chance to make a difference and will have daily interaction with the company directors and you could take an active role in the shape of the future company

The ideal applicant will be looking to expand on the skills and knowledge gained through their degree or equivalent training and have a passion for solving technical problems.

The applicant must have the following:

  • A relevant degree (or evidence of equivalent knowledge gained through other routes)
  • Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and ability to work in a small team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 3 years residency and verifiable right to work and remain in the UK

Desirable skills

  • Previous experience supporting a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Microsoft Office365 and Azure
  • VMware vSphere
  • Linux desktop and server operating systems
  • TCP/IP Network skills
  • ITIL Foundation Qualification OR Microsoft 365 / Azure / Windows Certification
  • Knowledge and/or experience in platform, data and application design using up to date open source and best-of-breed commercial tools

Responsibilities Include

  • Dealing with 1st & 2nd line infrastructure support queries
  • Assist and deputise for the IT manager as and when required
  • Perform maintenance tasks on the infrastructure through change control
  • Triage monitoring alerts and perform appropriate action.
  • Maintain monitoring components in line with infrastructure developments
  • Support and manage company audio Visual assets
  • Ensure all systems are patched in line with provider recommendations
  • Quickly and accurately assess impact of incidents, initiate return to service and ensure follow up actions are completed
  • Identify trends and problems and plan changes to improve stability and performance
  • Keep updated on new technologies
  • Develop personal knowledge through study/research toward vocational certifications in relevant technologies/vendors
  • Cascade knowledge through knowledge articles for the team and wider organisation
  • Achieve zero data loss on all managed environments
