2nd Line Support Engineer

Are you an experienced second line IT Support Engineer looking to take on a bit more responsibility? 

Can you think on your feet and problem solve?

Our client is a small, niche, IT support and IT service company based on the outskirts of Reading, Berkshire in Swallowfield. They are looking for a 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their friendly Support Team, providing support mainly remotely but occasionally at their customers’ premises.

What your responsibilities will be:

  • To take 2rd Line support requests and to log them on our helpdesk system
  • To troubleshoot and resolve the more complex issues that have been escalated, whilst maintaining an accurate task record in the helpdesk system
  • Proactively help resolve line tickets where required
  • To participate in infrastructure installation, hardware refresh and other projects as occasion demands
  • Installation of new equipment and software at customer premises
  • Providing support both remotely and at our customers’ premises

Ideal Requirements for the Technical Support Engineer role

  • Thorough knowledge of current IT technology including:
  • Microsoft Server 2012 – 2019
  • Microsoft desktops OS XP – Windows 10
  • MS Active Directory
  • DNS
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007 – 2013
  • Office 365/Azure
  • Server Virtualisation (HyperV / VMware)
  • LAN/WAN (routers, switches, firewall)
  • Different Type of storage infrastructures
  • Backup and DR technologies (experience of ShadowProtect and BackupExec products is desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Salary: Up to £28,000 depending on experience

Car driver essential due to location

Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am – 17:30pm

This is an office- based position with client visits on occasion.
