Global Trade Expert

Are you an International policy/international business/law graduate or similar with proven experience in Trade Compliance or International Contract Review?

The role

  • Perform and own multiple Global Trade tasks for a region or area of specialty with minimal guidance, and applying expertise and initiative to complex activities and decision making
  • Review complex RPL (Restricted Parties Lists) holds on customer and vendor accounts and proposed transactions to ensure compliance and mitigating trade compliance risks and maintaining performance levels in line with Service Level Agreements
  • Provide guidance and serve as a resource for junior resources and complex transactions, potentially leading a team
  • Work with Sales Operations, Quote to Invoice and other teams to resolve issues with non-compliant deals and advise on compliance risk and requirements
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in Global Trade Compliance (particularly US), and interpret and update Company Policy, Guidance and Processes
  • Direct and supervise global import/export compliance and licensing
  • Coordinate regular internal risk assessments and evaluate the impact of future developments in Global Trade Compliance
  • Create and deliver training to internal teams on proper global trade compliance
  • Collaborate with the broader Quote to Cash team and internal stakeholders to insure that Compliance is considered and performed in accordance with policy throughout the process
  • Advise and assist enquiries from auditors, and work with Legal function to ensure consistent interpretation of company policy
  • Support Trade policy advocacy, and managing engagement with and enquiries from Government and Trade organizations
  • Assist with general compliance work and special projects on an ad-hoc basis, including evaluation, design and implementation of internal controls
  • Lead the delivery of projects at the direction of the Manager, including, but not limited to process improvement initiatives, system changes, and broader compliance resolution projects
  • Contribute towards individual targets, report on progress toward KPIs and interact with manager on performance
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls and SOX compliance

Skills needed

  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to lead meetings and interact with difficult stakeholders
  • US Customs Broker License or equivalent compliance understanding including law degrees
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with different information systems and business applications
  • Good proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Global Trade Compliance (e.g. US Export Administration Regulations / Sanctions) and importing / exporting regimes
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make key decisions under pressure
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, with an ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Highly organised and motivated team player
