We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Accountant
£75,000 plus a fantastic flexible benefits program + annual bonus
The Technical Accounting Team is responsible for ensuring compliance with IFRS and other statutory/regulatory requirements. This involves the provision of transaction-focused solutions, technical accounting determinations, hands-on implementation and business partnering skills.
The Team is responsible for ensuring new accounting standards are maintained for the Group and updated in the accounting policy manual. A large proportion of the work involves determining the accounting for significant oneoff transactions such as business combinations/M&A and legal entity reorganizations. The Team provides pragmatic and robust accounting advice to senior management, the divisions/businesses and other departments.
The Team also delivers technical accounting training and works closely with the reporting and consolidation teams.
Objectives and responsibilities include the following:
- Preparation and review of IFRS reporting and technical accounting papers;
- Advise, support and consult stakeholders in relation to technical accounting and policy issues, and provide technical expertise on complex accounting issues;
- Support the Group’s reporting processes, including development of the IFRS financial statement and advice on preparing external disclosure notes;
- Liaison with auditors on technical accounting issues;
- Support and communicate the development, setting and maintenance of IFRS financial accounting and reporting policies group-wide, including technical input to the Group accounting policy manual;
- Interpret and implement new IFRS developments/standards, including assisting with the project management and oversight of significant changes in standards impacting the Group;
- Provide internal and ad-hoc training and advice on technical accounting, new developments and standards; and
- Provide technical accounting and program management leadership and support for ongoing and new projects
- Provide analytics, guidance and support on specific technical accounting areas as required.
Experience Required:
- ACA accounting qualification, or overseas equivalent (CPA)
- Proven technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
- Strong technical accounting and writing skills
- Solid communication skills and executive presence
- Outstanding analytical skills (financial modelling)
- Ability to efficiently give priority to activities and carry out regular functions with little or no supervision
- Project management and leadership skills
