We are recruiting an enthusiastic, energetic, and empathetic Health Centre Assistant to join the Senior Nurse and Auxiliary Nurse in the on-site Health Centre.
Your role as a Health Centre Assistant:
- To administer first aid to pupils, staff and visitors within competency levels
- Assist with the dispensing of prescribed medications under the direction of the Senior Nurse
- Assist with student care
- Support the wellbeing and mental health of pupils and staff
- Make detailed computerised records of consultations made. Have a full understanding of the need for confidentiality. Any concerns over information gained should be referred to the Senior Nurse
- Communication with students, and when necessary, house staff, teachers, counsellors, parents, etc. and respond to questions within your competency level, and refer any concerns to the Senior Nurse
- Make yourself aware and have a good understanding of all unit policies and protocols
- Working with the nursing staff to ensure the safe administration of drugs, and ensure accurate record keeping is kept at all times as per the unit protocol
- Be aware and understand the procedure for the safe storage, usage and disposal of drugs and medical supplies
- Maintain good practice in the prevention of cross infection, keep all surfaces cleaned to a high standard
- Assist in advising pupils and house staff by email of appointments made and when/where to attend
- Working with the Senior Nurse to keep medical supplies sufficient and place orders when required
- To ensure a clean and tidy working areas are kept within the health Centre
You must have:
