Lead Test Engineer

Dealing with App Technology, located in the heart of Windsor

You will be working with the stakeholders to establish and achieve the quality goals as well as managing the engineering and test teams to deliver quality products.  You will be heavily involved in determining the overall test approach and will need to be hands-on, utilising your extensive experience of defining test and automation strategies to drive quality excellence.

Main Duties

• Work with a range of stakeholders to establish and achieve quality goals
• Define and implement effective product test strategies and release test plans
• Collaborate with product design and architecture teams to ensure quality and test ability are built in throughout the development life cycle
• As a subject matter expert, perform exploratory testing where required
• Coordinate efforts to advance our quality focused engineering practices
• Work as part of the QA management team to ensure departmental skills evolve to meet the changing requirements of the business
• Take responsibility for strategic projects to improve the effectiveness of technology
• Full line management responsibility for a team of senior test engineers.
• Help team members identify opportunities for career growth and implement challenging personal development plans
• To ensure compliance with the requirement for GDPR and ISO27001 standards and ISO 9001 Quality standards

Skills

• Proven software quality assurance experience with a focus on web-based applications
• Experience developing tests for functional and regression testing that include manual, automated, performance and ad-hoc testing
• Experience of Test Automation processes, tools and managing Continuous Integration
• Experience of responsive cross-browser testing
• Experience with tools like Cucumber/Gherkin, TestCafe, Protractor, GenRocket, SmartBear, Selenium, Cypres
• Knowledge of the use of Web services (SOAP & REST) and API Mocking (WireMock, Postman)
• Experience of SOA and Microservices in a Single Page Application (SPA) architecture
• Experience with Agile methodologies (TDD, BDD, SCRUM, Kanban, etc) and associated tools (Rally, Jira)
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (GitHub, GitFlow, Jenkins)
• Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience sharing knowledge and working in a multi-disciplinary team
• Create and maintain test automation jobs using Jenkins or other software.
• Collaboration with Software and Test engineers
• Create test estimates and build reusable testing assets for large projects

Nice to have:

• Experience of any of the following: Squish, Eclipse, Visual Studio, Git, Jenkins, QT, Docker
• Solid experience writing automation tests and integrating with build systems, version control and test cases management tools.
• A good understanding of REST APIs
• DevOps environment
