Public Affairs Advisor

Are you educated to degree level with maybe a politics degree or do you have experience from working in the political environment?
Do you have a good track record of stakeholder management and building partnerships across the public, private and voluntary sectors?

Is this coupled with demonstrable experience of working in public policy, public affairs, public relations, or political affairs? You will maybe have political experience of working in a parliament or government department? And maybe experience writing policy briefings, consultation responses and/or thought leadership pieces?

Fabulous opportunity to work for this not for profit organisation located near Aylesbury and High Wycombe, Bucks who are growing hugely. The office is a 30 minute train journey from Marylebone station. This role is full time 35 hours a week and hybrid working (1 day a week in the office).

Up to £37,000 plus excellent benefits and bonus

What does Public Affairs Advisor role involve?

  • Help raise the profile, credibility & influence of the organisation with key individuals & audiences across the public, private & voluntary sectors and within government
  • To support the Head of Public Affairs and Research Manager in ensuring the organisation builds its voice and influence across governments, parliaments and other stakeholders.
  • To help with delivering the company’s strategy, to maximise awareness by bringing their policy and research programme into the heart of government.
  • To build and maintain relationships with strategic partners including politicians, political advisers and parliamentarians, policy makers, civil servants and other external agencies to amplify their message and increase visibility.
  • Gather political intelligence and engage in regular horizon scanning to identify areas of government and public concern that are relevant to their policy priorities and to raise with the Head of Public Affairs.
  • Monitor and report on government, parliamentary and political party activity related to their key issues, providing briefings on parliamentary issues and advice to internal colleagues on political issues.
  • Draft high-impact policy products, including consultations, briefings, reports, presentations, blogs, and media statements
  • Support delivery of political events in parliament (e.g. roundtables, panel events, APPGs) and elsewhere to bring their policy messages directly to the policy makers
  • Support the Research Manager in disseminating research reports, delivering impact and providing secretariat to the Research Advisory Group
  • Regularly attend events proactively networking and building constructive political relationships to identify allies and amplify their messages
