Purchasing Manager

Great role based in a company near Marlow, Bucks where you will be a key member of the organisation responsible for developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.

The company sell components to mainly UK based construction industry clients.  These components are partly standard products that are imported, and partly bespoke products that are fabricated by a third-party supplier.  There is also a small in-house workshop with some fabrication capability.  The business has ambitious expansion plans including expansion to new European markets starting with Belgium.

Reporting to:  COO

Purchasing Manager Job Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing purchasing strategies.
• Managing daily purchasing activities.
• Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
• Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
• Evaluates vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
• Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
• Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
• Schedule’s deliveries and ensures timely fulfilment of orders.
• Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.

Purchasing Manager Requirements:

• Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position.
• Supervisory and management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (NetSuite experience would be a bonus)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
