Reservations Team Lead

Are you an experienced Reception Manager with a pro-active can do attitude and a flexible approach? Do you have previous admissions/reservations experience?

What will I be doing?

  • Achieving maximum occupancy through efficient, effective team leadership of the reservations service. 
  • Actively participating in and contributing to the process improvement and digitalisation of the Reservations Function. 
  • Receiving bookings and instigating the admission procedure for all patients requiring theatre time, an inpatient bed or day bed, co-ordinating relevant services/documentation to secure insurance cover and allocate beds appropriately. 
  • Ensuring accurate details, corresponding letters and a completed booking form, from consultant users or their secretaries, regarding operations, treatment or investigations to be performed on patients at the time of admission and arrange appointment times where appropriate (e.g. specialist x-rays, bloods etc.). 
  • Liaising with the pre assessment nurse to ensure the needs of patients are assessed pre admission and that their individual requirements/needs are met within hospital policy and procedure. 
  • Booking ambulance transport when necessary. 
  • Ensuring that any amendments to the admissions/theatre lists are actioned and circulated immediately. 
  • Liaising closely on a daily basis, with other departments, keeping them informed of each day of extra admissions, cancellations or emergencies, or other problems that might arise regarding patient bookings.
  • Assisting and participating in the induction, orientation and training of new members of staff and ensure the team are updated in new procedures and policies.

What skills and qualifications do I need? 

  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
  • Hospital administration Knowledge. 
  • Previous admissions / reservations / bed bookings knowledge.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Pro-active can do attitude and a flexible approach. 
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure. 
  • Can manage competing and multiple demands. 
