Training Programme Support Assistant

Interesting, varied operational role based in a training centre in Cheltenham supporting apprentices with “soft skills” and “mini workshops”, acting as a “classroom support” and “pastoral care”

You will be working with a Skills Coach supporting and coaching a group of learners working towards the successful and timely achievement of their programme. The training centre acts as a mini university for high level degree level apprentices.

What will the skills and responsibilities be for this Training Programme Support Assistant role?

  • Manage with some guidance and support from Skills Coaches, the training experience and progress of  apprentices whilst in academic study, in the training centre/working remotely.  Organising “mini workshops”
  • Support visiting lecturers and trainers to set up delivery, support the apprentices during practical labs and workshops, report on progress, maintain resources and arrange assessments.
  • Develop an awareness of the role of internal Skills Coaches, Learning Specialists and Quality Assurance Consultants and start to build relationships in order to ensure learners successfully achieve their apprenticeship programme on time
  •  Review and provide feedback on evidence produced by learners to ensure it is of the appropriate standard to reflect the learner’s knowledge, skills and behaviours and meet the needs of the Awarding Organisation
  • Hold regular review meetings with the employer and learner to monitor progress and plan progression
  • Support with IT, maintain the learning pod at the training centre and co-ordinate stakeholder meetings with apprentices.
  • Handle routine, straightforward customer questions and complaints according to Company policy
  • Take some ownership of own development with support from your line manager, ensuring Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is kept up to date
  • Excellent communication skills are needed and empathy for young apprenticeship students and the ability to identify learner needs
  • Great organisational skills and multitasking ability required
